A break from a break?

For no other reason other than it seems like a good idea, I am going to detox for the next two weeks. Nothing too strenuous or rigorous, mainly just no drinking. I have some yogi detox tea that is actually quite tasty, and I reckon I need to ask Herr Google about additional methods / foods to help clean out my system, as a single tea does not an entire detox method make.

Luckily, this is not brought on by excessive drinking – quite the opposite, it seems. I’ve been busy enough with work, derby, and the old lady to the point of actually not having the time / drive to go out and have a drink or few, much less put some stink on it for a night.

Things have just been so busy. For the first in what feels like forever, I got more than a full night of sleep (rolling in at ~12 hours). It was fantabulous, and sorely missed. While I have been running myself a bit hard, it is all for good. I’ve been given some opportunities that I really can’t pass up, so I’ll make the most of them now, work a bit harder, and it will certainly pay off in the future.

I’m hoping that the quasi-detox will also help me out with my back. I don’t have back problems per se, but as Bea can attest to, I tend to carry stress in my back and have the knots to prove it. I’m hoping that the situation will improve with this, and maybe some more quality back rub time from Bea ( hint hint ;) ).

This detox, my friends, will be a good thing. Hey, maybe I’ll even try to write a post a day for the next two weeks too (but not about the detox – boooooriiiiing). Hrm…

  1. I am officially jealous of the 12 hour sleep-a-thon of yours. I just told my co-workerthat if she hears a loud thud, to come check on me because it means I just fell asleep sitting up.

As for the no caffeine thing, well… say hello to Mr. Diet Coke (with Splenda) on my right. I promise, I’ll try to make it the last one for now.

  2. Well, a part of it is to cut out the bad elements from your diet – Coke (Diet|Regular|One|Splendafied|Monkey|etc…) easily falls into that category.

  3. hmmmm, this sound a bit “adult” too me. You aren’t trying to sneak in some sly ninja maturing period are you? Good honest young uns would say you should drink through that sh.t

Me, I like it, prolly try to cut something out too!

  4. My timing is horrible though – I have a long-RSVPed beer brew at the fly tomorrow, and an adventure race on the 10th.

I guess two small exceptions are okay.
