il portello è fatto di minestra.

It’s Giro d’Italia time. Time to listen/watch the race in the morning via web stream while listening to what I imagine to be small, funny-looking european men shout at me in Italian.

This year is going to be a crazy race. Im not going to go into any predictions or analysis of the race. I’ll leave that to Sonny and Jonah. Okay okay, a little one: I put my money on Basso, but am rooting for Savoldelli (il Faaaaallllcoooooooo!!!).

Then there is this photo from last year, of Danilo DiLuca rocking the Maglia Rosa last year:

Danilo DiLuca

He just stopped riding in the middle of a stage to take in the view of Florence. Awesome.

And on an unrelated note, I drank way too much with the rest of the Super Geil Drecksaü Boys 3000™ last night, and as a result, am all wonky today. Can’t wait to go home and go back to sleep.

  1. What area of town do you live in? How do you get your race bike to the Levee? I now live in the lower garden district and I feel like if I ride my bike all the way to Audubon on St.Charles I’m going to break it.

  2. We both live in the marigny/bywater. The trip to the levee is a scary one. I usually take esplenade to carrolton all the way up.
I am glad Lara talked me out of hangin with y’all last night. I fought it but bowed out which was probably a good decision.

  3. Brock – I ride down to the levee. It’s only about 7 miles, and I just relax and enjoy it.
Also serves as a good warm-up/cool-down.

As for the route there and back, it depends. I’ll either use St. Charles, Prytania, or Tchoupitoulas.

  4. Sonny – yeah, it was probably smart to come along. It was fun, but getting up this morning sucked big time.

And you url in the comment field point to basshos.com – I fixed it, but you may want to change it in your form field.

  5. Hmm, maybe I’ll just have to try it one of these days. It’s at my parents’ house in mandeville (I’ve been playing musical apartments lately) and last time I got on it instead of my commuter it felt great.

    I miss the levee.
