So, I signed up for Skype, username revwillcore.
I was quite hesitant to even visit the website of a product of Sharman Networks – the creators of that spyware-riddled product, Kazaa. Sonny was really the catalyst in this one. He said it made conferring with other 3d developers much much easier. Especially the ones whose spoken English skills far exceed their written skills.
Plus, I didn’t want to keep emailing his co-worker Dancer just to co-ordinate on lunch.
For me, the kicker was SkyLlian, a plugin that allows you to use it with Trillian Pro, the king of Win32 multi-protocol messaging.
It handles my 2 AIMs, 2 ICQs, 2 Y!s, 1 MSN, and now 1 Skype account all in one tidy little program.
The one downside to SkyLlian is that it requires Skype to be running in the background. However, since the actual Skype application only has a ~7MB Memory footprint, it’s not such a big deal. And when/if Skype enhances it’s API, Trillian can manage it by itself.
So hop on and look me up. We’ll do that video/audio chat thing.
Unless you are stalking me. Then I guess I’ll see you on my way home, or in the shower.
But if you’re any good, I probably won’t see you at all.
