So, as of the beginning / middle of last week, I got our company up and running at 100% capacity.
Not only does this mean that my co-workers still have jobs, but since we are involved in marine insurance, that all those fishermen, shrimpers, etc., with thrashed boats from Katrina will get the insurance money they need.
Go me.
We will be setting up an office in NC.
What does that mean? I ‘m heading over there in the next week or so to set up the network, etc.
And, I get to organize the network. Make it mine.
I walked into a partial spit and duct-tape network, assembled and patched by several people. Now? Continuity.
Anyone know of some solid VoIP solutions / phones? Preferably hardware or linux based for the server side?
Werd.
And, when it is somewhat hospitable, I can move back to NOLA with their blessing.
And since I will be the only of of my family back for the rebuilding, I’ll most likely take up residence in the family house, Château Willcore™.
Regardless of whether we decide to re-open a New Orleans office, I can still live there, telecommute, and rebuild.
I love my job.
i love north carolina. and i’m *near* north carolina. where will you be, exactly? will you be driving through (i doubt it)?
thank god you are staying. or coming back or whatever. I’m starting to have abandonment issues….too many people are just leaving….so sad.
