Yes, Mardi Gras approaches (Holy Crap, Krewe du Vieux is Saturday!), and I’ve been immersing myself in Game of Thrones and work. And mead.

I’ve almost finished book five of GoT, and I’ll never finish the mead – there’s just not enough in the world for me.

I just wondering what colors are “asking for it” more, and what are less?

This is also coming from the guy who has a pedobear sticker hidden somewhere in the aforementioned van (it used to be in the window).

Now, to some of you, this post is gross*. For those of you who have pets/kids or have ever gone on a whiskey bender, this is not such a gross post. It’s not like I’m actually posting dog puke photos.

Anyway, here’s the thing about this most recent puking incident: I fed him that tablet with breakfast.

WHERE IS THE REST OF THE FOOD? WHY IS THAT THE ONLY THING LEFT?

And, yes, in case you were wondering, I rinsed it off, broke it in half, and fed him a piece, which he gladly inhaled. He’ll get the second half with dinner tonight.

*UPDATE* – He threw that half up, all broken up and in tiny pieces, on the rug at the front door. <sarcasm>I guess it’s a good thing I stepped on it, barefoot, before Bea came home. </sarcasm>

This week, I “manned up” and made things square. I was tired of not knowing when I’d finally get tracked down and the book thrown at me, so I decided to square things up.

I paid my $1 fine from 1999 to the New Orleans Public Library.

Man, that feels good to get off my chest. And it was for Stephen King’s The Waste Lands, of all books.

Now, I have Stieg Larsson’s The Girl Who Played With Fire on loan from the NOPL. I hope I’ve earned their trust back.

While in the shower, I heard her whistling what I first thought was a track by Opeth. I pretty much wrote it off as her trying to whistle the theme song to Eureka (which we had just watched an episode of) and getting it wrong, when I realized she WAS whistling Opeth’s The Grand Conjuration! \m/

 
The album version of the song is actually twice as long as the radio edit they used for the video. Metal.
 
And yes, I know the phrase from the title is actually “Whistlin’ Dixie”, but the title is the name of the whistling album that my friend Savannah and I want to create. Good old drunken Sunday mornings at Molly’s.

I got one from Bea the other day, attached to a thin gift wrapped in brown paper. The outside of the card is your average run-of-the-mill thank you card (thankfully glitter-free), but it’s the inside of the card that made me laugh:
 

 
The gift was a pack of targets for the shootin’ range. Got a good laugh out of me, and I’m looking forward to going shooting again, it’s been a while.

And out of respect to Pistolette who screens not only her name, but her husband’s and children’s names too, I removed the reference to her daughter at the bottom of the card. What I can’t include unfortunately is the sound of Bea imitating Pistolette’s daughter when she said “You know, like Beeeeeeeeeeeee!”

Today was an almost complete veg day. We watched some T2 while getting ready to check out from the hotel this morning, and managed to snag our first Mississippi geocaches on our way back home. I even managed to update the map on my Geocaching profile. Nerd.

From there, it was all about the TV. Watched the new Eureka (yay!) and a handful of Stargate episodes – both SG-1 and Atlantis.

While being worthless on the couch though, I was able to snag this photo of Bosceaux:

 
I think that a funny photo of your dog with just the slightest bit of his tongue sticking out totally makes up for this non-post. Zombie dog to the rescue!

Except, it never seems to be that easy. I’ve been having issues with my reverse lights lately. It seems they work fine right between when the car starts and before you put it into drive. Luckily at the brake tag station, reverse lights were tested before I had to move the car.

I also have a headlight with water in it, and it isn’t secured to the frame very well. It won’t fall out or anything, but it’s loose. The brake tag guy said that he couldn’t give me a tag for that, but if I went home, drilled some small holes so the headlight would drain now and in the future, and made an effort to secure the headlight, all would be good. I drilled the holes, and showed that I had run the suggested bead of caulk (which I don’t thing will work long term, but that’s what he suggested), and drove over. When the tag hit the window I got the hell out, and met up with Amy Jett so she could take the truck for the weekend to move.

Also, I made this for you Linux users and fans of The Lord of the Rings. It’s not hard to imagine the Venn diagram for that – just draw a circle.

 
I’m sure this isn’t an original idea, the “One does not simply _____ into Mordor” being an established meme and all, but I have yet to see an SSH implementation – of course I haven’t looked either.

 
And now, when I think of Lovecraftian horror, Dagon tends to come to mind even before great Cthulhu. It’s mostly due to Nile and their song, 4th Arra of Dagon. Below is the last, chanting part of the song – the whole song clocks in at just under 9 minutes. I /really/ like it when the chorus chants at about 30 seconds in.

A few minutes ago, I randomly decided to pop onto /b/, as an odd way of figuring out what to do next with my day, work-wise.

Well, I was shocked to see a non scat/cp/horselove/furry/lolcat/tubgirl/2girls1cup/meme/whatever post, but this instead:

for many, many years there were these strange dots and filaments in my field of vision and i didn’t know what it was. i went to the oculist _several times_ but he said he couldn’t see anything unusual.
then, years after i started to live with my strange little friends (believe it or not, but i even named the first and biggest one, he’s called “horst”), i went to /b/ for a smooth little fap and then i see this picture in a “if you have floaters you must post ITT” thread.

world stood still for a second. then, i googled floaters (mouches volantes for the non-english) and found out what was accompanying me for so many years. it was so fucking relieving to just _know_ what it is, to have a term for it. it’s pretty harmless and so much fun because there isn’t a single day where i don’t play with my little friends in boring moments by letting them “jump” over obstacles and stuff. i think, my live is better with floaters, but it’s definitely better since i know what that “sickness” is.

so, anon, thank you for just sharing your diseases with other people, it might be helpful for someone! you’ll always have a place in my heart! (watch next post for tits, it’s an act of honor that i deliver)

I SO have this – it’s called myodesopsia – and I’m guessing it’s quite common. I’ve had it as long as I can remember, but it’s never really negatively affected my vision, so I just ignore it most of the time. Mine is more subtle than the image below, simulating looking at a blue sky with myodesopsia:

 
I still can’t believe that /b/ was, well I wouldn’t necessarily say helpful, but I guess informative. And not in that “Oh my god, I really didn’t need to know/see that” sense.
