Funny thing is, I&#039;ve done similar calculations for my motorcycles, and it&#039;s actually been *cheaper* for me to own a bike in addition to the car. At one point when I was still in college, gas was $2.25/gallon but I was commuting about 500 miles per week. The Civic got 33mpg highway. The Ninja got 50, and maintenance was a fraction of the cost, plus the added value of lack of depreciation on the car from all the extra miles.</description>
