Broken Racket MS150 Fundraiser at Mahony’s

Mahony’s Po-Boys on Magazine Street is sponsoring my MS150 cycling team and is having a party to support us! Team Broken Racket is riding for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in their annual 150-mile bike event on October 4-5, 2008! The ride is getting close, and we are working as hard as we can to raise as much money as we can for this very worthy cause.
To help raise money for the cause, Mahony’s has offered to donate 10% of sales next Wednesday, September 24, 2008! Also, there will be a drink special just for the night! Come to a happy hour party while also supporting a great cause! The more you eat and drink, the closer the Multiple Sclerosis Society gets to a cure! (Please see the following web link for more information about the ride, the society, and our team).
The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Mahony’s which is located 3454 Magazine Street. Have a po-boy and a beer with us while meeting some folks from the MS150 program. If you come join us and want to donate directly to the cause as well, we will have a few laptops there for online donations and we will be accepting direct donations as well! Also, come by any time that day and pick up information about the event and how you can help out! If you are supporting another team or would like to donate to another rider, we will be happy to help you with that donation getting to the proper place as well!
We will be having some of the MS150 organizers stopping by to give you more information about the ride, donating, and joining the team!

Well, I have listened to the new Metallica album: Death Magnetic. And it is good (or at least a gargantuan improvement). It would appear that they have made a complete 180° from The Thing That Should Not Be (aka St. Anger).
My friend Paul had this to say though and I must admit I agree:
I saw the video for what should have been called “Two”
And to provide a degree of regularity to this moment of metal, I submit unto this, a balance of the two:
I am very seriously considering snagging a ticket to see them play here in November with Down and The Sword.

Tonight, I’ll be co-haring with Mikey, I mean Tandy Ass™ in Lakeview with the VooDoo Hash House Harriers.
If you like beer, running, middle-school-humor, beer, and beer, then come on out! The trail is just over 4 miles ( more if you get lost / thrown off course ;) ).
We’ll be meeting up at the now defunct Plantation Coffeehouse at Hidalgo and Canal Blvd. I believe we (the hares) take off running at 7:00, so please show up before then.
If you do come, please bring $1, a six-pack, and a sense of humor.
