Web Standards / Blue Beanie Day

Some of you may be asking yourself “What is Blue Beanie Day?” and hopefully even fewer are asking “What are Web Standards?”

Well, I’ll just pretend you didn’t ask the latter, but point you here just in case.

Actually, if you asked the first question, you should click on that above link anyway. Long story short, some nerds decided to wear a blue beanie (in honor of a cover of a web standards book) and put a pic of it up on a flickr group. In the founders’ own words:

Monday, November 26, 2007 is the day thousands of Standardistas (people who support web standards) will wear a Blue Beanie to show their support for accessible, semantic web content.

It is actually my Jayne hat, with a quick bit of photoshop hacking.

So what is the lesson behind all of this? If you write web apps / pages, don’t be a jackass. Adhere to standards and validate your goddamn code.

Drew Brees / Carlton Banks

In light of the picture below, I think that Drew Brees’ touchdown dance should be “the Carlton”.
